The exhibition "Armenia. Impressions of a civilisation", and the accompanying catalogue, present the highlights of Armenian culture in the spiritual, artistic, architectural, economic and intellectual spheres, in an original chronological and thematic way. Ancient stelae with engraved crosses, brightly coloured miniatures, religious architecture and precious reliquaries preserved for centuries in the Armenian Apostolic Church of the Holy See of Etchmiadzine reveal the great skill of Armenian artists through the ages. Attention is also paid to the Armenians' long and fruitful relationships with various peoples and cultures, from Europe to the Far East. In particular, historical documents, manuscripts and works of art show how the Armenian presence in Venice developed and how Armenians were perceived by the Venetians.
