Just behind one of Milan's most famous streets, the long Corso Buenos Aires that connects the centre of Milan to Piazzale Loreto, is the Boschi Di Stefano House Museum. In this residence, the City has given shape to the dream of perpetuating the memory of two collectors who had built and eventually donated their extraordinary collection of modern art to the city: Antonio Boschi and Marieda Di Stefano. On the second floor of the building designed by Piero Portaluppi, furnished and presented to the public as an exemplification of the Milanese bourgeoisie's taste in living in the 20th century, around three hundred of the more than two thousand works they collected between the 1920s and the 1970s are on display. A selection of just a few hundred pieces against a total collection of over two thousand paintings, sculptures and drawings, enriched by the Boschi Di Stefano couple's other collecting passions: those for carpets, violins and objects from non-European cultures. In addition, Marieda Di Stefano's former ceramics school was reopened on the ground floor of the building, with the same functions as before: a creative space and an exhibition space where in-depth studies of the artists and situations in the collection can be offered.
